Hotspur Reserves Clip Golden Cranes in Tight Contest
|
The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes got a superb performance from pitcher José Guillén, but the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves still won the game, 7-3. Guillén was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Phoenix now sits at 32-42, while Santa Barbara falls to 39-35.
Had Solomon Norment not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Norment hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Hotspur Reserves.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Norment told the Phoenix Citizen.
