Nobles Knock Off Golden Cranes at Jerome Grounds
|
The Bakersfield Nobles topped the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 7-3, in USPL Triple A action at Jerome Grounds. The player of the game was Bakersfield pitcher and Missoula, Montana native John Kaufman. Kaufman got the win, improving to 6-2. He allowed 2 hits and walked 0 over 5 innings. Kaufman allowed no earned runs. Bakersfield is 37-22 and Santa Barbara, with the loss, 31-28.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the second inning. Facing Santa Barbara hurler José Guillén, Melvin Castro, who is tied for 4th in the PAAA with a .420 on-base percentage, drew a walk. The Nobles went on to win.
