Late Rally by Longnecks Secures Win
|
The Bloomington Longnecks did just enough to secure a 2-1 victory over the Baltimore Black Sox at Lookouts Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Tony DeWitt, who captured player of the game honors. The win was credited to Ieyoshi Asai in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Kanakanui Lokomaikainani took the loss. Cristián Moreno picked up the save, his 3rd.
The Longnecks got a big at-bat from third baseman Rob Gray. For the game, Gray went 2-3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 34th hit of the season gave Bloomington a 2-1 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Gray, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The win boosts the Longnecks to 27-27. The loss puts the Black Sox at 28-26.
