Late Rally by Rocks Secures Win
|
The Plymouth Rocks defeated the Jersey City Tritons, 4-1. Earning player of the game honors was second baseman Raúl Duarte, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Javier Luna in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Francisco Torres took the loss. David Moore closed the game out for Plymouth, earning his 18th save.
Duarte had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-2 slider from Francisco Torres, he banged a 3-run home run to center, giving the Rocks a 4-1 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Duarte.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Duarte said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Tritons, at 18-33, have lost 7 in a row.
