Nobles Come Back Late to Top Hotspur Reserves
|
Fans who gathered at Thunderbirds Stadium saw a good contest between the Bakersfield Nobles and Phoenix Hotspur Reserves.
The Phoenix Hotspur Reserves got a sterling performance from pitcher Alberto Solís, but the Nobles still prevailed, 5-3. Solís was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Leo Ingelbrigtsen earned the save, his 1st.
Had Lúcio López not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, López hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Nobles.
López expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
Bakersfield is now 19-15, while Phoenix is 13-21.
