Big Day for Cardona as Longnecks Down Hotspur Reserves, 6-2
The Bloomington Longnecks beat the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 6-2, at Thunderbirds Stadium. The Longnecks got a fine performance from catcher Carlos Cardona, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4 for 6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Geoff Stackhouse, the winner, improved to 3-1. He held the Hotspur Reserves to 1 earned run on 3 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Dermot Eridge earned the save for Bloomington, his 4th.

Cardona had a key at-bat for Bloomington early in the game. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and gave Bloomington an early 2-0 lead.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Cardona.

Bloomington currently is in 5th place in the Premier AAA at 16-14.
