Supernovas Go Down to Defeat, 7-2
|
The Bakersfield Nobles topped the Scranton Supernovas, 7-2, at Jerome Grounds. Bakersfield third baseman Wade Killefer earned player of the game honors. He banged out 2 singles and 1 double, while driving in 1 runs. The winner was Bakersfield reliever John Kaufman, now 3-1. The loser was Apollo Cepeda. Rick Converse earned the save for Bakersfield, his 1st.
Melvin Castro, who is tied for 5th in the PAAA in home runs with 4, contributed to the Bakersfield win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Wes Murray. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
At 10-6, the Nobles have played well so far.
