Golden Cranes Knock Off Tritons at Crane Field
|
Santa Barbara starter Kagetoki Matsubara pitched effectively against the Jersey City Tritons at Crane Field. The right-hander led his team to a 6-1 win. Matsubara, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks. The Tritons, now 5-9, continue their poor start.
The Golden Cranes got a big at-bat from catcher Rodney Usry. For the game, Usry was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Santa Barbara a 3-1 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Matsubara told the Santa Barbara Citizen.
