Despite a fine performance by catcher Berihun Tukufu, the Baltimore Black Sox suffered a 5-3 loss to the Bakersfield Nobles. Tukufu went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. Armando Garay closed the door for Bakersfield, picking up his 4th save of the year. The win brings the Nobles to 9-5, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

Edwin Berns chipped in for Bakersfield, stroking a crucial 2-run triple in the top of the fifth inning. For the game, the right fielder went 2 for 4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 2 runs.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Bakersfield manager Elliott Taylor.
