Nationals Lose Again, 7-3, to Rapiers
|
Ottawa got a terrific performance from pitcher Ron Burgundy, but it wasn't enough to beat the Durham Rapiers. Durham won the Rapiers Ballpark contest, 7-3. Burgundy was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He came in in relief and pitched to 16 batters . Durham starter Jack Buyse was credited with the win after throwing 99 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 5-5. Bob Kennedy locked down his 23rd save.
Mason Congdon helped out the Durham cause in the bottom of the third inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the third baseman was 1-2 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Ottawa skipper John Hill.
The losses continue to mount for Ottawa, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
