Thunder Hawks Clip Hops in Tight Contest
Ft. Polk South and Yakima met at Hops Park in front of a lively crowd.

With right fielder Felipe Soto leading the charge, the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks defeated the Yakima Hops, 8-3, at Hops Park. Soto, who is tied for 5th in the 3AA in bases on balls with 58, went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winner was Gunnar Hoglund in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Pieter Spitsbaard took the loss.

Luke Thornton helped out the Ft. Polk South cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the catcher went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Mark Harrison said.

The first-place Thunder Hawks, at 54-36, now lead their division by 3 games.
