Thunder Hawks Score Late, Top Grasshoppers, 6-3
|
A 5-RBI performance from catcher Chris Walters, who is tied for 8th in the 3AA in home runs with 9, led the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks to a 6-3 win over the San Bernardino Grasshoppers. Ft. Polk South reliever Tzu-hsia Ong picked up the win, upping his record to 5-3. Dane Bramble absorbed the loss. At 41-26, the Thunder Hawks have a slim two-game lead in the Menard's AA.
Walters had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a full count sinker from Dane Bramble, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Thunder Hawks a 6-2 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Walters.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Walters.
