Tony Smehrik pitched a gem to lead Salt Lake City to a 5-1 victory over the Pure Michigan Great Lakers. Smehrik, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. The first-place Buzz, at 62-40, now lead their division by 5 games.
The fans who came in support of the Buzz were pleased with the outcome. It was what they had hoped for when they passed through the turnstiles at Spirits Stadium.
