Bone Goes Wild, But Targaryens Win
|
The Pawnee ParksNRec got a superb performance from first baseman Ken Bone. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Royse City. The Targaryens won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Bone was named the player of the game. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Eugenio Piñeiro got the win, improving to 8-6. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Ricardo Gómez notched his 9th save in 13 chances.
Roxborough Park, Colorado-born Melvin Thomas came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st and the Targaryens trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run home run to left to put Royse City on top.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Thomas said.
The win puts the Targaryens at 44-46, while the ParksNRec drop to 37-53.
