Men Come Up Short at Tremont
|
Tremont Doubledays starter Bob Shepard was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Florida Men, 4-3. Shepard, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 3 earned runs. Tremont leads the Silver AAA by 2½ games.
One of the key players for the Doubledays was center fielder Bill Rinck, who drilled a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth inning. For the game, Rinck was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Tremont manager Don Nelson.
