Flyers Nip Buzz, 2-1
|
The Flyers faced a stiff challenge from Salt Lake City pitcher Barney Starr, but persevered to claim a win at Pennsauken Park. The final score was 2-1. Starr went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Jen-djieh Si picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Barney Starr was tagged with the loss. Pennsauken, at 29-41, sits in 8th place in the Silver AAA.
The Flyers got a big at-bat from second baseman Clarence Therrien. For the game, Therrien was 1 for 1 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Pennsauken a 2-1 lead.
Therrien told a Pennsauken Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
