Flyers Beat Great Lakers, 5-2
|
Getting a good performance from center fielder Dave Ash, the Pennsauken Flyers defeated the Pure Michigan Great Lakers, 5-2. Ash went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 times for the Flyers. Pennsauken is now 27-39.
Tied up with the Great Lakers in the top of the fifth inning, the Flyers got a boost from first baseman Wilfred McLaughlin. With runners on 1st and 2nd, McLaughlin saw a 3-1 fastball from Chad Sanogo and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Pennsauken on top, 2-1.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Flyers manager Juan Rodríguez. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
