Great Lakers Win Thriller, 3-2
|
The Tremont Doubledays got a superb performance from pitcher J.J. Spencer. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Pure Michigan. The Great Lakers won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Spencer was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of shutout ball. Pure Michigan has now won 4 straight.
With runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the ninth, Lorenzo Ruíz delivered the knockout blow when he hit a 2-run single to win it for Pure Michigan. In the contest, Ruíz went 1 for 1. He drove in 2 runs.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Ruíz said.
