Tritons Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
The Jersey City Tritons and Phoenix Hotspur Reserves played a tight game at Jersey City Grounds, with the hosts claiming the hard-fought win.
The Jersey City Tritons got a strong performance from pitcher Iwane Chihara, who stymied the Phoenix offense en route to a 3-1 win at Jersey City Grounds. The winning pitcher was Chihara, now 1-1. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. Raúl Flores closed the game out for Jersey City, earning his 1st save.
Rubén Arce aided the Jersey City cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the second. For the game, the center fielder was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Arce, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The Tritons, now 2-4, have not found much traction so far in 2033.
