Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Tritons
|
The Jersey City Tritons turned back the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 3-2, at Jersey City Grounds. Phil Oostermeer was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times. Raúl Flores picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Dennis Dunn was tagged with the loss. The Tritons, now 1-3, have not found much traction so far in 2033.
The Tritons were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when right fielder Rand McNally turned a 1-0 fastball from Dennis Dunn into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent a roar through the crowd and gave Jersey City a thrilling 3-2 win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said McNally, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
