Nobles Hope Opening Day Win Bodes Well for Season
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Plymouth Rocks home opener. Cisco Andr started for the home team against Oliver Rodríguez for the Bakersfield Nobles. The Rocks were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 4-2, Bakersfield. Ricardo Suárez was named player of the game. Bakersfield starter Oliver Rodríguez was credited with the win after throwing 63 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.
The Nobles got a big at-bat from first baseman Theo Fightmaster. For the game, Fightmaster went 1-3 with a walk and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 1st hit of the season gave Bakersfield a 2-0 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Fightmaster said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
