Highlanders Prevail, 3-1, Over Tacoma
|
Asheville right-hander Rich Choquette pitched his team to victory over the Tacoma Fur Traders at Asheville Park. The final score was 3-1. Choquette, now 4-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Jason MacGruder was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 13 save opportunities.
Asheville took a 2-1 lead on Werner Bowman's 37th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Bowman hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Tacoma pitcher Orlando Peralta shaking his head.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Choquette told the Asheville Herald.
Asheville has now won 3 straight, while the Fur Traders have lost 3 in a row.
