Ghosts Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
Casper beat Lancaster at Farmers Field, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Bob Phillips, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Casper reliever Marc Henderson picked up the win to move to 3-2. René Fontaine suffered the loss. Casper, at 46-53, occupies 6th place in the Silver AA.
Casper used the timely hitting of Paco Ríos to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Ghosts on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame remarks, Ríos simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
