Late Rally by Lionhearts Secures Win
|
The Little Caesars Hot N Readys got a superb performance from pitcher Enrique Mateo, but the Lannister United Lionhearts still won the game, 6-4. Mateo was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 2-hit ball. The win was credited to Fernando Elías in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Nick Kelley took the loss. Manuel Torres converted his 17th save in 20 tries.
The Lionhearts got a big at-bat from left fielder Jonathan Gunner. For the game, Gunner was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Lannister United a 6-4 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Gunner told reporters after the game.
The Lionhearts have an impressive 44-25 record.
