Lionhearts Edge Past Farmers, 5-4

Lannister United played host to Lancaster at the friendly confines of Lionheart Field.
The Lannister United Lionhearts did just enough to sneak past the Lancaster Farmers, 5-4, at Lionheart Field. Lannister United pitcher Kliment Spirk earned player of the game honors. Spirk picked up the win for Lannister United, going 8 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 6-3.
Had Vernon T. Waldrip not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Waldrip hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Lionhearts.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Spirk.
Lannister United is now 41-24, Lancaster 30-35.
