Atoms Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Fur Traders
|
The Bethesda Atoms had to overcome a big game from Tacoma shortstop Júlio Rodríguez to leave Atoms Field with a 5-3 victory. Rodríguez was 2-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Bethesda reliever Daniel Gill was credited with the win, to go to 1-4. Jesús Salazar took the loss for Tacoma. Miguel Cervantes earned the save for Bethesda, his 3rd of the year.
Had Diego Romero not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Romero hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Atoms.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Romero.
Bethesda is now 30-34.
