Highlanders Drop Another One
|
The inspired effort of Asheville center fielder Murray Sperber was not enough to prevent a 5-4 loss to the Lannister United Lionhearts. Sperber went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Hercules Mata'afa, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 8-4. The save went to Manuel Torres, his 12th this season.
One of the key players for the Lionhearts was catcher Gilberto Clemente, who drilled a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth inning. For the game, Clemente went 1 for 4.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Lannister United manager Luis González.
The losses continue to mount for Asheville, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
