Late Rally by Farmers Secures Win
|
The Lancaster Farmers defeated the Casper Ghosts, 4-2. Earning player of the game honors was catcher Sébastien Cornu, who went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jorge Morales picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Roy Bell was tagged with the loss. René Fontaine closed the game out for Lancaster, earning his 11th save.
Cornu had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Roy Bell, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Farmers a 3-2 lead. It was the 17th home run of the year for Cornu.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Cornu told reporters after the game.
The Farmers saw their record improve to 23-24.
