Highlanders Slip Past Lancaster, 5-4
|
In a close game at Asheville Park, the Asheville Highlanders edged the Lancaster Farmers, 5-4. Asheville center fielder Murray Sperber earned the nod as player of the game. He went 3-3 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. Asheville is now 25-19, Lancaster 22-22.
David Austin had the critical at-bat for Asheville. With no one out in the bottom of the tenth inning, he hit a walk-off run-scoring single. It gave Asheville the 5-4 walk-off win.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Sperber. "And not try to do too much."
