Victory Over Hot N Readys Takes Long Island to 20-7
|
Little Caesars pitcher Enrique Mateo gave the Seawolves all they could handle, but in the end, Long Island left The Pizza Oven with a 5-3 win. Mateo allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits over 6.1 innings. Mathieu Neri got the win, improving to 4-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Getting the save was Orynn Veillon, his 1st.
Had Dan Chrzan not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Chrzan hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Seawolves.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Chrzan. "And not try to do too much."
The slumping Hot N Readys have lost 6 straight.
