Seawolves Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
It was a good time at Ballpark of Remsen, where fans came to watch the Richland Rails and Long Island Seawolves get after it.
The Long Island Seawolves trumped the Richland Rails, 6-2, at Ballpark of Remsen. Long Island catcher Calvin Springer was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Long Island reliever Winston Wenham picked up the win to move to 1-0. Ed Shreves suffered the loss. Picking up the save was Vinny Mariani, his 4th.
Had Jackson Curry not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Curry hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Seawolves.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Curry.
Long Island is now 17-7, 2˝ games up in the Silver AA.
