Highlanders Topple Atoms with Late Rally
|
The Asheville Highlanders relied on the hitting of first baseman Félix Calixto to stop the Bethesda Atoms, 7-6. For the game, Calixto went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Asheville reliever Travis Watson picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Vincent O'Higgin shouldered the loss. The win gives the Highlanders a record of 11-7.
Petri Kallio was the walk-off hero for Asheville. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Highlanders second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This place sure got loud," said Josh Jackson, the Asheville manager.
