Atoms Solve Highlanders, 6-3
|
Bethesda Atoms starter Osiris St. Brown was in fine form against the Asheville Highlanders at Asheville Park, leading his team to a 6-3 win. St. Brown, now 2-0, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 11 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 3 earned runs. Bethesda is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 6th win in 17 games.
Bethesda center fielder Gong Mao made his contribution to the Atoms cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning. For the day, Mao went 1-4 with a double.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said St. Brown. "Successful pitchers do it."
