Fur Traders Get Close Win Over Rails
Ballpark of Tacoma was the site of a competitive game between the Richland Rails and Tacoma Fur Traders.

Richland pitcher Román Mejía gave the Fur Traders all they could handle, but in the end, Tacoma left Ballpark of Tacoma with a 5-4 win. Mejía allowed no earned runs on 3 hits over 5 innings. Tacoma, now 3-6, is off to a slow start.

In the bottom of the 8th, designated hitter Gilberto Chávez gave Tacoma the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Fur Traders had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out single off Richland pitcher Carlton Roberts changed that -- and Tacoma went on to win.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Chávez.
