Drummers Clip Braves in Tight Contest
|
The Gryfindor Braves got a superb performance from pitcher Enrique Valle, but the Tortolita Drummers still won the game, 5-1. Valle was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Tortolita reliever Colijn de Goedere was the winner. His record is now 2-3. The losing pitcher was Denver Milne. The Drummers saw their win-loss record go to 43-50. At the same time, the Braves fell to 40-53.
Had Jeffery Campbell not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Campbell hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Drummers.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Tortolita skipper Arturo Chávez.
