Disaster Turn Back Sioux Falls, 5-4
|
Port Royal center fielder Joey Coco was instrumental in his team's 5-4 win over the Sioux Falls Red Pandas. Coco, who is rated as the 11th best prospect by BNN, went 2-5 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Disaster. Masaharu Sakata got the win, improving to 6-1. He worked 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 7. Port Royal is now 56-36, Sioux Falls 46-46.
Coco contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Port Royal in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Coco took a fastball from Kenny Koehler and stroked the home run to right-center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Disaster to leap in front, 3-2.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Sioux Falls manager António Molina.
