The exploits of center fielder Orlando Montejo helped the Houston BC defeat the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, 3-2. Montejo went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. Júlio Rodríguez, credited with the win, is now 5-9. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. Houston is in 10th place in the Menard's AAA with a record of 37-47.
Montejo had a game-changing single in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-2 slider from Bill Maddox, he banged a run-scoring single to left, giving the BC a 3-2 lead. It was the 41st hit of the year for Montejo.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Houston manager said.
