The Hamilton Coyotes eked out a 7-6 win versus the Sioux Falls Red Pandas at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. Nobody did more than first baseman Scot Willis, who captured player of the game honors. Nick Balleza finished to wrap up his 2nd save. Hamilton is now 36-40, Sioux Falls 36-40.
Ed Mellor found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Sioux Falls hurler Fernando Ramírez, the 21-year-old designated hitter hit a 2-run single. His 21st hit of the season put the Coyotes on top, 7-6.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Hamilton manager David Pacheco.
