Disaster Squelch Timber Hawks Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Port Royal Disaster got a strong performance from pitcher Omar Casteneda, who stymied the Augusta offense en route to a 3-0 win at Ballpark of Port Royal. The winning pitcher was Casteneda, now 5-1. He tossed 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Port Royal has now won 3 straight, while the Timber Hawks have lost 3 in a row.
The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the fifth inning, but Casteneda was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Augusta trailing 2-0, Casteneda retired Kenny Fleming, who struck out.
