Starting pitcher Cisco Cazares pitched well enough to help the Port Royal Disaster beat the Alaskan Humpbacks by the score of 4-3. Port Royal reliever Miguel Hernández picked up the win to move to 4-3. Jorge Garza suffered the loss. Paco Salazar earned his 15th save in 17 tries.
Had Gary Chalmers not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Chalmers hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Disaster.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Cazares.
Today's win puts Port Royal at 30-24, while Alaskan falls to 32-22.
