Phelps Goes Wild, But Red Pandas Win
|
The Sioux Falls Red Pandas overcame a good performance by Houston designated hitter Abraham Phelps to knock off Houston, 8-4, at Houston Park. Phelps went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Sioux Falls is now 23-29, Houston 25-27.
The result might have been different for Sioux Falls, had it not been for Jorge Alou. The center fielder produced a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put the Red Pandas ahead, 5-2. For the game, Alou had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
In postgame comments to the Sioux Falls News, Alou said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
