Getting a good performance from center fielder Juan Salinas, the Alloway Halberds defeated the Sunset District Fog, 6-3. Salinas was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Halberds. Gilberto Ramírez earned the win for Alloway. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 2-7. Joe Martarano closed it out for his 4th save.
Had José Zarate not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Zarate hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Halberds.
"We played hard and won," said Salinas. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
With the win, Alloway has a record of 18-33. Sunset District falls to 21-30.
