Timber Hawks Solve Drummers, 6-3
|
Augusta and Tortolita duked it out at Timber Hawks Ballpark and the Timber Hawks came out victorious.
The Augusta Timber Hawks picked up a win at Timber Hawks Ballpark, knocking off the Tortolita Drummers, 6-3. Starting pitcher Bob Shepard, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 6.2 innings, Shepard surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Jong-yun Chong picked up the save, his 4th.
Krystof Melichar had a big 2-run triple for the Timber Hawks in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Augusta leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Oswaldo Mobray and stroked the triple to left-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Timber Hawks ahead, 5-1.
"It's good to win," Melichar told the Augusta Bulletin. "I like to have fun doing it."
The Drummers, now 22-27, have lost 4 in a row.
