Halberds Fall Short, 4-3, at Tortolita
|
Tortolita starter César Manoel had a strong outing against the Alloway Halberds at Drummers Ballpark. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Manoel got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. Manoel allowed 1 earned run. Tortolita is now 20-22, while Alloway is 14-28.
Tied up with the Halberds in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Drummers got a boost from third baseman Lu-fang Koo. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Koo saw a 2-1 slider from John Ball and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Tortolita on top, 2-1.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Alloway manager Yoshifumi Kamuta. "But we decided not to take it."
