Halberds Throttle Braves, 5-1
|
Nicholas Beyer pitched a gem to lead Alloway to a 5-1 victory over the Gryfindor Braves. In 8 innings, Beyer surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Even with the win, the Halberds have a dismal 13-26 record.
The Halberds got a big at-bat from catcher Carlos Ávila. For the game, Ávila was 1-4. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 2nd hit of the season gave Alloway a 2-1 lead.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Halberds manager Yoshifumi Kamuta. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
