The Tortolita Drummers beat the Alloway Halberds, 6-4, at Ballpark of Alloway. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Pedro Castillo, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. César Vásquez, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits in 6.1 innings. Pedro Figueroa got credit for the save for Tortolita. It was his 1st of the year.

Had Glen Allen Mixon not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Mixon hit a 2-run double. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Drummers.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Castillo, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."

The defending champion Drummers are off to a horrible start to the season, notching only their 5th win in 17 games.
