Kao Wins SR Player of the Week Monday, August 30th, 2032 No single hit brought Joy-shan Kao Player of the Week honors -- the Germantown Uruguayans shortstop corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat. "Hitting is all about discipline," said Kao. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too aggressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes." Concentrate he did. Kao stroked 12 hits in 18 at-bats while cranking out 2 home runs, 4 RBIs and 8 runs scored. In 72 games this season Kao has compiled a .305 batting average with 54 hits and 6 home runs. He has also scored 34 times and knocked in 20 runs. |
