Fernández and López Brawl, League Suspends Them
Saturday, July 10th, 2032
After an intense confrontation, both the Clippers Bill Fernández and the Elephants Ernesto López were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent San Diego-Gibtown game. Both players will miss 3 games as a result of their actions.
"Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Bill Fernández commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play."
Fernández is hitting .194 this year with no home runs and 8 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .230, 3 walks and scored 3 times.
So far this year López has made 0 starts, tossed 11.1 innings, struck out 15 batters and walked 3. His record is 2-1 with a 2.38 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .167 batting average.
