Minnesota Catcher Nets PAA Award

25-year-old Júlio Vargas made a few Minnesota headlines during this past week as the rookie catcher proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and USPL Double A officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 7 hits in 14 at-bats to put up a .500 average. Vargas collected 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
Vargas is hitting at a .271 mark this season. His stats show 14 home runs, 58 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has played 76 games for the Loons.
