Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl Saturday, June 26th, 2032 The action was hot and heavy at a recent Salt Lake City-Plymouth game at Spirits Stadium in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Buzz Alexandre Keeping and Plymouth's Javier Luna will each miss 2 games for their roles in the fight. "We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we believe that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe." Keeping is hitting .258 so far this season with 12 RBIs and 8 runs scored. He has 23 hits including 1 home run, 7 walks and .327 OBP. To date this year Luna has won 4 and lost 0 with a 1.69 ERA, no saves and 9 strikeouts in 11 relief appearances. |
